Washington, D.C. – The National Archives Foundation, the nonprofit partner of the National Archives and Records Administration, announces the election of four new members to its Board of Directors:
- Global government affairs leader Selina Jackson;
- Attorney and philanthropic leader Jacqueline E. Michel;
- Former Congressman Fred Upton;
- Nonprofit executive Ana Valdez.
Additionally, the Foundation welcomes back two returning board members:
- Data privacy and cybersecurity strategist Daniel K. Alvarez; and
- Entertainment and media law expert Bruce Ramer.
“The board is excited to welcome this remarkable group of new members committed to serving the mission of the National Archives Foundation,” said Rodney E. Slater, Chair and President of the Board. “As we approach the 250th celebration of the Declaration of Independence at the National Archives, the expertise and passion of these individuals will enhance our efforts and position the Foundation for continued success.”
Daniel K. Alvarez is Co-Chair of Willkie Farr’s Privacy, Cybersecurity & Data Strategy Practice Group, and a member of the Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies and Crisis Management Practice Groups. For over 20 years, Daniel has advised clients on the legal, regulatory, and policy issues raised by innovative uses of data and technology, including privacy, data protection, AI, and cybersecurity matters. Daniel also advises companies on crisis management, focusing on security incident planning, preparation, and response.
Selina Jackson is Senior Vice President of Global Government Relations and Public Policy at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where she leads a global team of professionals shaping P&G’s public policy positions and advising business leaders on geopolitical risk.
Before joining P&G in 2016, she served in Geneva as the World Bank’s Special Representative to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. From 2000 to 2010, she was Vice President of International Public Affairs at UPS, managing global business, trade policy, and market access issues. Selina began her career in the White House. She serves on the boards of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and the Executive Council on Diplomacy. In 2010, she was honored by the President of Chile for her role in the rescue of the trapped Chilean miners. She holds a master’s degree from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and the College of Europe.
Jacqueline E. Michel is an attorney and philanthropist. She is President of the Advisory Board of the American Friends of Musée de Montmartre, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Darbster Rescue, and sits on the Boards of N Street Village and the Campagna Center. Previously, she has served on the Boards of Washington Performing Arts and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She is an active supporter of the Parkmont Poetry Center, Mount Vernon, the National Cathedral, and the Cancer Alliance of Palm Beach.
Jacqui graduated with a BA from the University of Arizona and has a JD from the University of San Diego. She is a member of both the New York and Washington, D.C. bars.
Bruce Ramer is a partner at Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown, and Passman. He serves on the University of Southern California’s Board of Trustees, the Board of Councilors of the USC Gould School of Law, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, and the Board of Governors of the Center for the Digital Future at USC Annenberg. He also chairs the USC Institute on Entertainment Law and Business. His additional board service includes the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, where he was Chair from 2010 to 2012 and now serves as Vice Chair; Founding Chairman and Trustee of the Geffen Playhouse; and board roles with the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games, the Los Angeles Sports Council, and the American Archive of Public Broadcasting Executive Advisory Council. He is an inaugural member and Former Chair of the Peabody Advisory Board, and a member of both the Council on Foreign Relations and the Pacific Council on International Policy. He has been recognized as one of California’s 100 most powerful lawyers by California Business Lawyer and one of the state’s top 100 lawyers by the Daily Journal.
Fred Upton is a former U.S. Representative from Michigan who served in Congress for more than three decades. Known for his pragmatic, bipartisan approach, he chaired the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where he helped advance major legislation on health care, energy policy, and technology, including the widely supported 21st Century Cures Act. Before his election to Congress, Upton worked in the Office of Management and Budget, gaining early experience in federal policy and public administration. Throughout his career, he earned a reputation as a consensus‑builder focused on practical solutions and effective governance. He remains active in public policy and civic leadership.
Ana Valdez is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Latino Donor Collaborative and a leading marketing, media, research, and political strategist with three decades of experience across the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Born in Mexico City and based in Los Angeles since 1997, she began her career at Nielsen, later joining Banamex (now Citibank) to attract major foreign investment, and went on to work with the United Nations in Geneva and the Clinton Administration in Washington, D.C She has been widely recognized for her leadership, including honors as one of the Top 10 Latinos in America (Hispanic Magazine, 2018), one of the Top 50 Most Influential Latinas (2020), multiple appearances on Latino Leaders Magazine’s Top 100 Latinas lists, a 2022 ALPFA CHANGEMAKER, and a 2023 LA Times Inspiring Women of the Year nominee.
